The first half of the fifth couplet of a poem written by the English writer Rudyard Kipling in 1890 for "The Betrothed" reads: "These's peace in a Larranaga, there's calm in Henry Clay". From this high point, the cigar brand has shrunk to just one handmade cigar model and a few machine-assisted cigars. This Cuban cigar brand was created in 1834 by Ignacio Larranaga, likely making it the oldest continuously-produced Habano cigar brand still in existence.
